Get your work published/highlighted on Filter Feeder!
art + writing + photo + video + mixed-media submissions all qualify. have fun with it!
A few things to know:
- We typically open submissions the first of the month and close them on the 30th(ish). But hey, if you’re here earlier than usual and the form + theme are available … feel free to submit away :~)
- You can indicate with your submission whether or not you’d like feedback on your submitted piece(s)! We definitely don’t want to heavily edit, change, or strip down your core ideas, but we would love to support you in making your creative work even stronger where possible.
- Looking for a collaborator on a piece/project? Let us know, and we’ll plug you into our network!
- If accepted, we’ll work with you to figure out if your submission will be shared here on the Filter Feeder newsletter, in a quarterly print zine, or on social media (or a combination).
- Above all, we want to amplify your unique perspective through whatever format you’re most excited to share in — writing, art, multimedia, or really anything else we can figure out a way to embed into this newsletter.
- Got questions? Totally feel free to reach out ([email protected]) literally anytime — super happy to brainstorm, talk about your ideas, anything! This is a verrrry casual process and the whole form system exists mostly so we/I can stay organized lol.
What we’re always interested in:
- Observations and documentation of your local nature
- Interviews with/features of people you think are cool and we should know about
- Features on or a debrief of your own experience participating in community science projects
- Highlights of environmental justice initiatives you or people you know are involved in
- Your! Unique! POV! can’t say it enough <3

need some inspo? potential topics include (but aren’t limited to):
- cycles of life & what we can learn from them
- how non-human nature has influenced and/or shaped your world of human relationships

- an endangered species that speaks to you
- symbiosis (obvi)
- things you love that you want to protect for future generations
